In SL land, there’s snow on the ground that nobody has to shovel or drive in. In SL land, the whole town comes together to decorate a Christmas tree–and it’s tacky as hell, and I wouldn’t have it any other way–and has skating parties and hot cocoa and cider and slow dances in a gazebo. In SL land, the family that I celebrate this time of year with–my upcoming birthday, and Christmas–are the people I choose to share it with and nobody has to get on a plane or a bus or find a pet sitter. In SL land, my friends remember my birthday and are all there to celebrate it with me. It almost makes me want to cry, knowing there’s no way it ever happens that way in RL land.
